On October 11, Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Salem in the Salesian province of Tiruchy (INT), in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit of Salem, commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child under the global theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”
In a significant show of solidarity, over 500 participants gathered at key locations across Salem District, Tamil Nadu, including the Salem New Bus Stand, DBAI-Mulluvadi Gate, DBAI-Adivaram, and the outreach center in Kitchipallayam. Together, they participated in a signature campaign to emphasize the urgent need to safeguard girls’ dreams and ambitions, especially as they face growing challenges from climate change, conflict, and poverty.
The event drew strong support from essential stakeholders, including representatives from the Police, Child Welfare Committee, Labour Department, and local community members. Together, they made a collective pledge: to respect, care for, and protect the girls of Salem District, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive.
Don Bosco Anbu Illam extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this important cause. Their dedication was crucial in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and building a future where every girl can realize her full potential.
